About Mary

Graduated cum laude from Emerson College, Boston, Mass, Received certification as an EMT II (intravenous therapy technician) in 3 states. Worked as a news anchor, medical reporter and producer at 4 network-affiliated TV stations on the east and west coasts. Hosted pilot for NBC network, worked at Portland, Oregon's ABC affiliate, KATU for 17 years, as Portland radio talk show host for 5 years. National Communications Director, Constitution Party, College instructor at Mount Hood Community College, Media Consultant, Language Arts Tutor, Board of Directors, Christian Family Adoptions, Foster Child Mentor Program, Neighborhood Watch Captain, Ladd Hill Neighborhood Association, Yamhill County, Pet-assisted therapy volunteer, Prison visitation, Coffee Creek Correctional Center, wife, mother and grandmother.

Mary produced and wrote an investigative series for KATU TV on women in Oregon's correctional system as well as a 5 part radio series on custodial rape of inmates in Oregon womens' prisons.

Mary ran for Oregon governor in 2006 as a Constitution Party candidate.

Mary co-founded Oregonians for Life, a pro-life organization devoted to ending taxpayer funded abortions in Oregon.

Mary grew up in Brooklyn, NY, has lived in Oregon for 37 years, in Newberg for 25 years, is married with a grown daughter and two grandchildren. An avid shooter, Mary Starrett is a member of the Yamhill County Sportsman’s Association.
